BRUSSELS (CBS) — Some Brazilian women are using masks to help protect themselves from the Zika virus.
The Brazilian health ministry has also begun offering free masks to women with a history of Guillain-Barre syndrome.
The Zika virus is spreading through Brazil and causing thousands of cases.
In Brazil, the virus is known as “Zika” and can cause severe birth defects and birth defects that cause neurological damage.
The World Health Organization says there are currently 8,300 cases of Zika and 6,000 deaths.
